Built on Patience
Epoch was founded in 2019 with a simple conviction: mechanical watches deserve the same measured attention they were built to receive. We restore timepieces the way they were meant to be serviced — without haste, without shortcuts.
Return HomeOur Story
Epoch began in a small workshop in Kaohsiung's Sanmin District. The founder, trained in traditional Swiss watchmaking methods, had spent twelve years working in authorized service centers where volume demands often compressed service timelines beyond what complex calibers truly needed.
The decision to establish an independent practice came from observing a recurring pattern: watches returned from rapid service often developed secondary issues within months. These problems stemmed not from malicious work, but from insufficient time allocated to each movement. A hairspring requires patient observation to verify its concentricity. Pivot wear demands adequate time for proper assessment. These steps cannot be rushed without consequence.
Our practice was built on a different model. Each watch receives dedicated bench time proportional to its complexity. Service schedules reflect realistic timelines rather than marketing pressure. This approach initially meant turning away potential clients who needed immediate turnaround, but it attracted those who valued thoroughness over speed.
The name Epoch reflects our understanding that mechanical watches exist in a different temporal dimension from the digital devices that dominate contemporary life. These instruments were designed when patience was understood as a form of respect. We maintain that understanding in how we approach each restoration.

Our Standards
Professional Training
All watchmakers maintain current certifications from recognized horological institutions. Continuing education is pursued annually to stay current with evolving restoration techniques.
Quality Protocols
Each service follows documented procedures verified through decades of industry practice. Post-service regulation spans minimum 48 hours across multiple positions before delivery.
Privacy Commitment
Client information and watch details remain confidential. Service records are maintained securely. Documentation photography excludes identifying case numbers unless explicitly authorized.
Our Approach
Methodical Assessment
Before proposing any intervention, we spend substantial time understanding the watch's current condition. This includes observation of the movement under various positions, assessment of component wear patterns, and review of any previous service history if available. Initial findings are documented photographically and discussed with you before work begins.
Transparent Process
Throughout service, you receive regular updates on progress. If unexpected conditions arise during disassembly, we pause to discuss options rather than proceeding with assumptions. Proposed solutions include detailed explanations of what the intervention addresses and why specific approaches are recommended.
Documentation Standard
Each service generates a photographic record showing the movement before intervention, during critical steps, and after completion. This documentation serves multiple purposes: it provides verification of work performed, creates a historical record for the watch, and allows detailed discussion of specific conditions discovered during service.
