1. Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:

  • "Service" refers to watch repair and restoration services provided by Epoch
  • "User" or "You" refers to the individual or entity engaging our services
  • "We," "Us," or "Our" refers to Epoch
  • "Website" refers to eepochdes.info
  • "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions along with any service-specific terms

2. Acceptance of Terms

By engaging our services or using our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our services.

You must be at least 18 years of age to enter into this agreement. By using our services, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.

3. Service Description

Epoch provides professional watch repair and restoration services, including but not limited to:

  • Shock system inspection and repair
  • Full caliber service and maintenance
  • Legacy restoration engagements
  • Movement regulation and timing adjustments
  • Case and bracelet restoration

Service availability is subject to our capacity and the specific requirements of each timepiece. We reserve the right to decline service requests that fall outside our expertise or capabilities.

4. Service Process

4.1 Initial Assessment

All services begin with an assessment of the watch's condition. Following this assessment, we provide a detailed proposal outlining recommended work, estimated timeline, and pricing. You are under no obligation to proceed after receiving this assessment.

4.2 Service Authorization

Service begins only after you provide explicit authorization, typically through signed approval of our service proposal. This authorization constitutes your agreement to the proposed work and associated costs.

4.3 Timeline Estimates

Service timelines provided are estimates based on typical conditions. Actual completion time may vary if unexpected complications arise or if specialized parts require extended sourcing periods. We will communicate any significant timeline changes promptly.

4.4 Additional Work

If additional work becomes necessary after service authorization, we will contact you for approval before proceeding. No additional charges will be incurred without your explicit consent.

5. Payment Terms

5.1 Pricing

Service pricing is quoted in New Taiwan Dollars (NT$) and includes labor, standard replacement parts, and materials required for the specified work. Specialized components or rare parts may incur additional costs, which will be discussed before ordering.

5.2 Payment Schedule

For services under NT$30,000, full payment is due upon completion and collection of the watch. For services exceeding NT$30,000, we may require a deposit of 50% before beginning work, with the balance due upon completion.

5.3 Accepted Payment Methods

We accept cash, bank transfer, and major credit cards. Payment processing is handled through secure third-party providers.

5.4 Uncollected Watches

If a watch remains uncollected for 90 days after service completion and notification, we reserve the right to charge a storage fee of NT$500 per month. Watches uncollected for more than one year may be disposed of in accordance with Taiwan law after reasonable attempts to contact the owner.

6. Client Responsibilities

When engaging our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the watch's history, including previous repairs or modifications
  • Disclose any known issues or sensitivities with the timepiece
  • Provide valid contact information and respond to communications regarding service progress
  • Collect the watch within 30 days of completion notification
  • Pay for services in accordance with agreed terms

7. Our Commitments

We commit to:

  • Perform services with professional care and expertise
  • Use appropriate tools, materials, and techniques for each timepiece
  • Maintain secure storage of your watch while in our custody
  • Communicate significant findings or timeline changes promptly
  • Provide documentation of work performed

8. Service Warranty

We provide a twelve-month warranty on labor performed and parts we supply, beginning from the date of service completion. This warranty covers defects in workmanship and part failures under normal use conditions.

8.1 Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Damage from accidents, misuse, or improper handling after service
  • Water damage if the watch was not rated water-resistant or was used beyond its specified depth rating
  • Damage from service performed by other parties after our work
  • Normal wear of cosmetic surfaces (crystal scratches, case wear, bracelet stretch)
  • Battery replacement for quartz movements (where applicable)

8.2 Warranty Claims

To make a warranty claim, return the watch to our facility with proof of service. We will assess the issue and, if covered under warranty, perform necessary repairs at no additional charge. Warranty service does not extend the original warranty period.

9. Limitations and Disclaimers

9.1 Service Limitations

We provide professional watch repair services but cannot guarantee specific performance outcomes for vintage or heavily worn movements. We will communicate realistic expectations during the assessment phase.

9.2 Parts Availability

While we maintain relationships with parts suppliers, availability of specific components for discontinued or rare calibers cannot be assured. If necessary parts cannot be sourced, we will discuss alternative solutions.

9.3 Pre-Existing Conditions

We are not responsible for pre-existing damage or wear that is discovered during service but was not apparent during initial assessment. We will notify you of such conditions before proceeding with work that addresses them.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Taiwan law, our total liability for any claims arising from our services shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including loss of use, sentimental value, or opportunity costs.

This limitation does not affect any statutory rights you may have under Taiwan consumer protection law.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is the property of Epoch or its content suppliers and is protected by Taiwan and international copyright laws.

Photographic documentation of your watch created during service is provided for your personal records. We retain the right to use such documentation for internal training purposes, but will not publish or share images that include identifying information without your explicit permission.

12. Privacy and Data Protection

We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. By using our services, you consent to such collection and processing.

13. Termination

Either party may terminate the service agreement before work begins without penalty. Once service has commenced, termination requires mutual agreement and may involve charges for work completed to that point.

We reserve the right to terminate service if we determine that continuing would be technically inadvisable or if payment terms are not honored.

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Taiwan, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14.2 Jurisdiction

Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

14.3 Informal Resolution

Before pursuing formal legal action, we encourage clients to contact us directly to discuss any concerns. We are committed to resolving issues through good-faith discussion wherever possible.

15. General Provisions

15.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with any service-specific agreements and our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Epoch regarding our services.

15.2 Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

15.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

15.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights under this agreement without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor business entity.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Services already in progress will be completed under the terms in effect when service was authorized, unless both parties agree otherwise.
